A home for readers and the clubs that bring them together.

A truck driver with a penchant for technology and a passion for creating. I built Litulia as a personal project — a place where my love for reading and my curiosity for software could finally share the same space.
While driving for UPS, a few colleagues asked if I wanted to join a book club. I had never been interested in reading before — and at 40, I never imagined myself as a reader. But I said yes, and I started down a path of real evolution. Our club was four members, and we each took turns picking a book we wanted to share. I was surprised by how much it impacted my life. But reading alone was only a small part of it. The real magic happened when we got together to talk — about themes, characters, writing style, and how it made us feel. It was a beautiful thing to be a part of.
One Sunday at my recreational soccer league, I was talking to a friend who turned out to be a software engineer. I asked him if a 40-year-old was too old to learn to code. He told me the best time to start was 20 years ago — but the second best time was now. I found Udemy, started with HTML and CSS, moved on to JavaScript, then React. I have been learning and building ever since. When I discovered web development, everything around me became a project waiting to be started. I built a small app called SLICs for UPS drivers to pull up addresses and directions — I was always looking for ways technology could make life a little easier.
About a year into book club, the idea came to me: a website where we could keep track of the books we read, share our thoughts, and keep the conversation going between meetings. I started building it, and it quickly became my most personal project. Litulia is the place where my love for reading and my passion for building finally share the same space — and I hope it can be that for other readers too.
Litulia stands on the shoulders of some great tools and APIs. A huge thank you to the teams behind each of these.
Everything I know about web development started from some amazing Udemy courses — and two instructors in particular made all the difference:
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Node.js
React and modern JavaScript
