How Litulia works
Everything you can do here, step by step. Jump to a feature, or read it top to bottom.
Book clubs
Clubs are the heart of Litulia. Join a public club, or start your own for the people you already read with. Each club has its books, discussions, events and members in one place.
Find a club
Discover lists public and invite-only clubs. Search by name, then open one to see what it’s reading.
Join or ask to join
Public clubs take you straight in. Invite-only clubs need a request or an invitation; private clubs are invitation only.
Start your own
Choose a name, cover, description and privacy. You become the owner. On the free plan you can start one club with up to 20 members, and belong to three.
Bring people in
Invite readers by name, or anyone by email. Owners and admins approve join requests and manage roles in the club’s settings.
Pick the book
Add a book as the club’s current read. Members can suggest what comes next, and admins accept a suggestion when it’s time.
Reading progress
Log how far you’ve read and see where your club is. Milestones give the club a shared pace, and the threads tied to them wait until you get there.
Update your progress
From the club’s book page or your shelf, log a page, a chapter or a percentage. Members see where everyone is.
Read to milestones
Admins set milestones through the book. Each one opens a discussion that unlocks when you reach it, so nobody spoils the next part.
Finish or set it aside
Mark the book Finished, or Did not finish. Finished club books move to the club’s Books tab, where members rate them.
AI Librarian
A chat with a librarian who knows your shelf and your favourite genres. Describe a mood, a book you loved, or what your club wants next.
Open it
AI Librarian is in the sidebar, or under You on a phone.
Ask anything bookish
“I loved The Night Circus, what next?” or “A cosy mystery under 300 pages.” Any starting point works.
Narrow it down
It remembers the conversation, so follow up on length, era, series or tone.
Daily allowance
Free accounts get 10 messages a day; the count resets the next day.
Book Companion
A reading guide for a club book: chapter summaries, characters, plot arcs, themes and places. It only shows what you’ve already read.
Ask for one
On a club book’s Companion tab, club admins can request a companion. Litulia prepares it from the book’s EPUB.
Read at your own pace
As you update your progress, more chapters unlock. You won’t see a spoiler for a chapter you haven’t reached.
Explore the tabs
Summaries recap each chapter. Characters, plot arcs, themes and places grow as the book goes on.
Goodreads import
Bring years of reading with you: shelves, star ratings, written reviews and read dates come across in one go.
Export from Goodreads
On Goodreads: My Books, then Import and export, then Export library. You’ll get a CSV file.
Open the importer
In Litulia, go to Add a book and choose Import from Goodreads.
Upload and review
Drop in the CSV. Books already on your shelf are flagged so nothing is added twice.
Import
Statuses, ratings, reviews, read dates and page counts are carried over.
Your bookshelf
Everything you’ve read, are reading, or want to read. Add books by search, import them from Goodreads, or pick them up from your clubs.
Add a book
Search millions of titles and add one to Want to read, Reading or Finished.
Grid or list
Switch between covers and a list; select several to move or remove them at once.
Rate, review and take notes
Finished books get a rating and a review; any book can hold your notes and favourite chapters.
Count toward your goal
Every book you finish this year fills your goal ring on the dashboard and your profile.
Your profile
Your reading identity: what you’re reading, what you’ve finished, your reviews, clubs and friends. You decide who sees it.
Open your profile
Choose Profile from the menu under your name in the sidebar, or from You on a phone.
Set a yearly goal
In Settings, under Reading. It shows as a ring on your dashboard and profile.
Choose who sees what
Settings has two choices, each Everyone, Friends only or Only me: who can see your profile, and who can see your reading.
Discussions
Every club has threads: about a book, about anything, or a poll to choose the next read. Spoiler flags keep endings hidden until someone chooses to look.
Start a thread
In the club’s Discussions tab, start a new thread: general, about a book, or a poll.
Mark spoilers
Flag a thread as containing spoilers and its preview stays blurred until a reader opens it.
Reply
Reply to the thread, or to a specific reply to keep side conversations together.
Keep it tidy
Admins can pin important threads and lock ones that are finished.
Events and Zoom
Plan meetups in person or online. Members say whether they’re going, and every event from all your clubs lands in one calendar.
Schedule an event
Admins add events from the club’s Events tab: title, time, and whether it’s in person, online or a call.
Zoom, made for you
For an online event, choose Zoom and leave the link empty. Litulia creates the meeting and adds the join link. Or paste a Discord or other link.
RSVP
Members answer Going or Can’t go, from the club or from their calendar.
One calendar
The Calendar page shows every club’s events, in your time zone.
Friends and following
Follow readers whose taste you trust, or become friends with the people you know. Your Social page turns what they read into a feed.
Find readers
Search by name on the Social page, or open someone’s profile from a club or a review.
Follow
Following is one way: their public reading shows up in your feed, and they don’t need to follow back.
Add a friend
Send a request from their profile. Once they accept, you see each other’s friends-only reading.
Answer requests
Friend requests and club invitations wait on your Invitations page.
