Book clubs are the heart of Litulia. You can join public clubs open to everyone, or create your own private club for a curated group of readers. Each club has its own reading list, discussions, events, and member directory.
Explore public clubs
Browse all public book clubs from the Explore page. Filter by genre, size, or activity to find a club that matches your taste.
Join or request access
Public clubs can be joined instantly. Invite-only clubs require a request or a direct invitation link sent by an admin.
Create your own club
Hit "Create a Book Club" to set a name, description, cover image, and privacy level — Public, Private, or Invite-Only. You become the Owner automatically.
Manage members and roles
As Owner or Admin you can promote members to Admin, manage join requests, send invitation emails, and remove members.
Add books to your club
Search for any book and add it to your club's reading list. Set it as the current read and track the club's collective progress.
Track how far you and your club have gotten through each book. Set milestones, mark your percentage complete, and keep everyone on the same page — literally.
Open the club book
From your club's home page, click on a current book to open the book detail view.
Update your progress
Use the progress slider or enter a page number to log how far you've read. Your progress is visible to other club members.
Set reading milestones
Admins can create milestones (e.g. "Finish Chapter 10 by Friday") to give the club a shared reading schedule.
Mark books as finished
Once you've completed a book, mark it as Finished or DNF (Did Not Finish). Finished books move to the club's archive.
The AI Librarian is a conversational assistant that helps you discover your next great read. Tell it what you enjoyed, your mood, a genre, or even a vibe — and it will suggest books tailored just for you.
Open the AI Librarian
Navigate to the AI Librarian page from the Services menu in the header.
Start a conversation
"I loved The Night Circus, what should I read next?" or "Recommend a cozy mystery set in a small town." — any starting point works.
Refine your request
The librarian remembers the conversation context. Ask follow-up questions or narrow down by length, publication year, or whether it is part of a series.
Add to your shelf
Once you find a book you like, head to the book search to add it to your shelf or suggest it to your club.
The Book Companion transforms any EPUB into a rich reading guide — chapter-by-chapter summaries, character profiles, plot arcs, thematic analyses, and location maps. Content is spoiler-gated so you only see insights for the chapters you've already read.
Upload an EPUB (admin only)
On a club book's detail page, club admins will see a Companion tab with an EPUB upload option. Upload the EPUB file for the book your club is reading.
Wait for processing
Litulia's AI reads the EPUB chapter by chapter, extracting characters, plot events, themes, and locations. Processing typically takes a few minutes depending on book length.
Read at your own pace
As you update your reading progress, the Companion unlocks additional chapters automatically — you will never accidentally see a spoiler for a chapter you have not reached yet.
Explore the five tabs
Chapter Summaries give a concise recap. Characters lists everyone with descriptions. Plot Arcs tracks the major narrative threads. Themes unpacks the ideas. Locations maps the settings.
Already have a reading history on Goodreads? Import your entire library in one go. Litulia preserves your shelves, star ratings, written reviews, and read dates — no manual re-entry needed.
Export your library from Goodreads
Log into Goodreads → My Books → Import and Export → Export Library. Goodreads will let you download a CSV file of your full reading history.
Open the import dialog on Litulia
Go to your Books page and look for the "Import from Goodreads" option to open the importer.
Upload the CSV file
Select the CSV file you downloaded. Litulia will scan it and show you a preview of what will be imported.
Review and confirm
The preview flags any books already on your shelf to avoid duplicates. Confirm to begin the import — books are processed in batches.
What is preserved
Reading status (read, currently reading, want to read), star ratings (1–5), written reviews, read dates, and page counts are all carried over.
Your profile is your public reading identity on Litulia. It shows what you're currently reading, your recent reviews, reading goal progress, clubs you're part of, and your friends. You control exactly how much is visible to others.
View your profile
Click your avatar in the header or navigate directly to your profile page. Other users can visit your profile by clicking your name anywhere on the platform.
Set a reading goal
From Settings, set a target number of books to read this year. Your goal progress bar is shown prominently on your profile.
Write reviews
After finishing a book, leave a star rating and a written review. Reviews appear on your profile and on the book detail page.
Control your privacy
In Settings you can set your profile visibility to Public (anyone), Friends Only, or Private (only you). Reading activity has its own separate privacy setting.
Every book club has a built-in discussion board. Start threads about the current book, run polls to pick the next read, or open a general conversation. Spoiler flags keep sensitive content hidden until readers choose to reveal it.
Start a discussion
Inside your club, click the Discussions button and then New Discussion. Choose a type: Book (tied to a specific book), General (open topic), or Poll (vote on options).
Add a spoiler warning
When creating or replying to a discussion, toggle the spoiler flag to hide your message behind a click-to-reveal overlay. Use this for plot points and endings.
Reply to threads
Click into any discussion to read all replies and add your own. You can reply directly to specific messages within a thread.
Admin tools
Club admins can pin important discussions to the top of the board and lock threads to prevent further replies when a topic is closed.
Plan in-person or virtual meetups directly inside your club. Members RSVP from the club page, and all upcoming events across every club you belong to appear together in your personal calendar.
Create a club event
Club admins can create events from the club's Events section. Set a title, date, time, and whether the event is in-person or online.
Auto-create a Zoom meeting
For online events, select Zoom as the platform and leave the URL field blank — Litulia will automatically create a Zoom meeting and attach the join link to the event. You can also paste your own Zoom, Discord, or custom URL instead.
RSVP to events
Members see upcoming events on the club page and can mark themselves as Attending, Maybe, or Not Attending.
View your calendar
The Calendar page aggregates every upcoming event from all your clubs into a single monthly view, so nothing slips through the cracks.
Your personal bookshelf is a record of every book you've read, are reading, or want to read. Add books by searching Litulia's database, import them from Goodreads, or have them added automatically when you join a club's reading list.
Search for a book
Use the Search Books page to find any title. Results are pulled from an open book database with millions of titles.
Set a reading status
Add any book to your shelf with a status: Want to Read, Currently Reading, or Finished. You can update the status at any time.
Rate and review
For finished books, give a star rating and write a review. Your reviews are visible on your profile and on the book detail page.
Track your reading goal
Every book you mark as Finished counts toward your annual reading goal. Watch the progress bar on your profile grow.
Social & Friends
Connect with fellow book lovers through Litulia's social layer. Follow readers whose taste you admire, or send a friend request to make the connection mutual. Friends can see more of each other's reading activity depending on privacy settings.
Follow a reader
Visit any public profile and click Follow. Following is one-way — you'll see their public activity but they don't have to follow back.
Send a friend request
Click Add Friend on someone's profile. Once they accept, you're mutual friends and can see each other's friends-only content.
Manage requests
Incoming friend requests appear in your Invitations page. Accept or decline at any time.
Browse your social graph
The Social page shows your friends, followers, and who you are following — all in one place.
